This latter theory of nikkibenz acquisition is known as the ‘nativist’ hypothesis and is based on three considerations: firstly, all human languages in spite of their obvious superficial differences do seem to show remarkable underlying simiÂlarities; secondly, the process of constructing a theory from the data, i.e. the inductive theory, would simply take too long; and thirdly, that the data on which it works is too distorted and partial for the purpose.
